The engine oil, oil filler cap label and Operation and Maintenance Manual need to be replaced on the products listed below. The existing connecting rod bearings can fail when running at high loads on some oils specified in previous versions of the Operation and Maintenance Manual. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 15Jun2015 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Group Number 1
Before completing this procedure, please review the safety actions in the Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) for your machine.
Choose one of the following actions, dependant on whether the piston rod bearings have failed or not;
If the connecting rod bearings have not failed:
Change the engine oil in accordance with latest version of the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual. Note that DEO_ULS SAE 10W30 oil is no longer recommended for these particular machines.
Install a new engine oil filter.
Remove the original oil filler cap.
Affix 4718316 Film to the new 3693867 Oil Filler Cap and install onto the engine.
If required, reflash the engine ECM with the latest software, as specified on Parts Needed list.
Remove any copies of original machine Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) from the machine or customer. Replace with the latest version of the OMM in the language appropriate for the territory. Order a replacement OMM in the
