Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the water temperature regulator housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Temperature Regulator Housing - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect tube assembly (1) and tube assembly (4).
Disconnect hose assembly (7).
Remove bolt (3).
Remove nuts (2) and spacers (9).
Remove two studs (6).
Disconnect tube assembly (5).
Attach a suitable lifting device to exhaust manifold (8). The weight of exhaust manifold (8) is approximately 57 kg (125 lb).
Remove exhaust manifold (8) and the sleeve assemblies. Installation Procedure

Apply clean engine oil to the female ends of exhaust manifold (8) before assembly. Apply Tooling (B) to the male ends of exhaust manifold (8) before assembly. Remove excess sealer from the assembled joint.
Apply Tooling (A) to two studs (6). Install two studs (6) and tighten to a torque of 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).
Position the sleeve assemblies and install exhaust manifold (8). The weight of exhaust manifold (8) is approximately 57 kg (125 lb). Note: Discard the nuts after use. Use new nuts for installation.
Install spacers (9) and nuts (2). Tighten nuts (2) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 38 5 N m (28 4 lb ft).
Connect tube assembly (5).
Install bolt (3).
Connect hose assembly (7).
Connect tube assembly (1) and tube assembly (4).
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change". End By:
