Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

Remove bolts (2) and grill assembly (1).

Remove bolts (3) and shield assembly (4).

Disconnect harness assembly (5) and hose assembly (6). Loosen clamps (7) and hoses (8).Note: Plug the hose assemblies with the protective caps.

Remove bolts (9), DEF injector assembly (10), and gasket (12). Discard gasket (12).
Remove and discard seal (11) from DEF injector assembly (10).Installation Procedure
Install the DEF injector assembly in the reverse order of removal.Note: To maintain cleanliness, the protective caps must remain in place until the final fluid connections are made.Note: Install gasket (5) so that the metal is toward the Diesel Particulate Filter Group.
Replace gasket (12) with a new gasket. Replace seal (11) with a new seal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (9).
Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 5.0 0.5 N m (44.3 4.4 lb in).
Retighten bolts (9) to a torque of 5.0 0.5 N m (44.3 4.4 lb in). Turn an additional angle of 90° 5°.
