Use a suitable press to install bearing assembly (20) into gear (18). Use Tooling (F) to install retaining ring (19).
Install gear (18) onto the stator support. Apply Tooling (S) to the threads of bolts (17). Install bolts (17).
Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 12 3 N m (106 27 lb in).

Install gear assembly (16) and bolts (15). Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).

Apply a continuous bead of Tooling (T) to the mating surface of the transmission housings.
Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to housing assembly (13). The weight of housing assembly (13) is approximately 141 kg (310 lb). Position housing assembly (13) and install bolts (14). Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).

Use Tooling (V) to check the end play. Make sure that the shafts are free. After checking clearence, rotate shaft 7 times to ensure tapered roller bearing is seated. Use shims to obtain 0.05 mm (0.002 inch) to 0.15 mm (0.006 inch) of end play.

Install hose assembly (10). Remove the cable straps that were used to secure the harness assembly to control valve (11) and connect the lower half of harness assembly (12).

Install O-ring seals (9).

Install O-ring seal (8) onto plate (7). Lubricate seal (8) with the lubricant that is being sealed.
Install plate (7) and bolts (6). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).

Install torque converter (5).

Install coupling (4) and bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 60 7 N m (44 5 lb ft).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the transmission and the torque converter. The weight of the transmission and torque converter is approximately 476 kg (1050 lb).
Remove Tooling (B).

Install sight gauge (2) and bolts (1). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 7 1 N m (62 9 lb in).End By:
Install the transmission and the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Torque Converter - Install".
Install the transmission oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Oil Pump - Install".
