Typical location for the Diagnostic Connector: under the dash panel.The analyzer group not only lets you check the present condition of components and circuits with more speed and accuracy (in comparison to present methods), it also lets you check the amount of wear when it is used as part of a Preventive Maintenance (PM) or Technical Analysis (TA) inspection. Used in this way, it can decrease the possibility of sudden downtime in the near future.

The analyzer will operate in a temperature range between -18 to +60°C (0 - 140°F). The recommendation for storage temperature is between -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F). The analyzer's weight and size is 1.1 kg (4 lb) and 250 × 190 × 30 mm (10 × 7 1/2 × 1 3/16") respectively; the weight and size of the complete group and carrying case is 3.2 kg (7 lb) and 390 × 310 × 100 mm (15 1/2 × 12 1/4 × 4") respectively.
Caterpillar's plan is to install the diagnostic connector on many machines in the future. For this reason, use of the 6V2150 Starting/Charging Analyzer as a practical tool to make rapid diagnosis in the field will become more important as the connector becomes a standard item on new machines.
