Sulfuric Acid Burn Hazard may cause serious personal injury or death.The exhaust gas cooler may contain a small amount of sulfuric acid. The use of fuel with sulfur levels greater than 15 ppm may increase the amount of sulfuric acid formed. The sulfuric acid may spill from the cooler during service of the engine. The sulfuric acid will burn the eyes, skin and clothing on contact. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) that is noted on a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for sulfuric acid. Always follow the directions for first aid that are noted on a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for sulfuric acid.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Loosen hose clamp (1) and hose clamp (2). Disconnect hose (3) from inlet air control assembly (4).
Slide the clip and disconnect hose assembly (5).
Remove temperature sensor (7) from inlet air control assembly (4).
Remove bolts (6).

Remove clips (12) and disconnect pipe assemblies (8).
Disconnect harness assembly (9). Cut cable strap (10) and disconnect harness assemblies (11).
Remove three bolts (14), inlet air control assembly (4), and gasket (13).

If necessary, follow Step 8.a through Step 8.c to remove bracket (15).
Cut cable straps (16).
Remove bolts (17).
Remove bracket (15).Installation Procedure
Install inlet air control assembly (4) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).

Position a new gasket (13) onto inlet air control assembly (4). Ensure gasket (13) is correctly installed into locating Pins (X) .
Tighten bolts (14) to torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
Tighten bolts (6) to torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
Lubricate temperature sensor (7) with Tooling (A).
Tighten temperature sensor (7) to a torque of 24 N m (212 lb in).

Install inlet air control assembly (4) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
