Installation Procedure For Group 1
1. Remove alternator (3).2. Remove existing 7W9623 or 7N5622 Alternator Support and replace with the new 7C2450 Support. (This change also allows easier access to the governor synchronization pin.) The new parts listed in Chart A and shown in Illustration 2 are also required to service the fan.

The components listed in Chart B are required for this procedure.
1. Remove the 7C3290 Alternator Guard.2. Loosen the tension on the alternator drive belt by loosening the nut on adjustment rod (2). Remove bolt (A) shown in Illustration 3 and roll alternator back.

Illustration 5.5. Put new guard (1) in position as shown in Illustration 1. Allow room to adjust the tension of the alternator drive belt.6. Roll alternator (3) back into place and install new 1D1090 Bolt (A) through the 7C2450 Mounting Bracket.7. Use a Burroughs Gauge to set the correct alternator drive belt tension. See Chart C. 8. Attach guard (1) to the end of the new 1D1090 Bolt (A) protruding from 7C2450 Support (4) at point (B) with a new 5P8247 Washer and 3K2889 Nut. See Illustration 3.9. Remove two 2A4639 Bolts [(E) and the next bolt on 8N0386 Flange (6) closest to the engine] in the lower water lines group. See Illustration 6. On D11N Tractors only, install the new 1W2901 Bracket on the flange with two new 0S1590 Bolts and the former 5M2894 Washers. The other machines already have the bracket. The fuel lines attach to it. The new 7E9248 Guard goes between the bracket and the clamps for the fuel lines.

Attach guard (1) to cam cover (5) at location (C) with a new 1A2029 Bolt and 5M2894 Washer. See Illustration 4.12. Attach guard (1) to 1W2901 Bracket, that was installed at Step 9, with a new 0S0509 Bolt and 5M2894 Washer. Note that the fuel lines also attach to this bracket on 776B Tractors, 777B, 785, and 789 Trucks.13. Install the 7C3290 Guard.
