The service switches allow service personnel to access information that is related to service. The service switches are located under a secured panel beneath the operator's right armrest. These switches are intended to be used by service personnel only. The switches connect to the Caterpillar Monitoring System. The Caterpillar Monitoring System then communicates with the hydrostatic transmission ECM. On this machine, a separate service tool is not required to perform diagnostic procedures. The following instructions are used to access information regarding the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System only. Refer to Systems Operation, "Caterpillar Monitoring System" in order to learn about the different modes and the operation of the display area. See the Testing And Adjusting portion in order to troubleshoot the diagnostic codes for the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System. While the Caterpillar Monitoring System is in normal mode, and the transmission system indicator (4) is flashing, a diagnostic code is present in the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System.

The diagnostic code indicator shows "SERV CODE" when any diagnostic code is present. This includes problems with the Caterpillar Monitoring System or the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System.
The transmission system indicator will be flashing when a diagnostic code is present in the Hydrostatic Transmission Electronic Control System.Procedure
Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the diagnostic code information. Locate the service switches under a secured panel beneath the operator's right armrest.
Place the Caterpillar Monitoring System in service mode. Press and hold the "SERVICE" switch and the "CLEAR" switch. Release the switches while the mode number "-3-" is shown on the display. This will place the system in service mode. Note: The diagnostic scrolling mode may be entered in order to see the diagnostic codes, but the diagnostic codes can be easily diagnosed with the service mode. The service mode allows the diagnostic codes to be placed on hold for further investigation. The service mode also allows the diagnostic codes to be cleared when the problem has been fixed.
A diagnostic code is shown and a diagnostic code is on hold at this time. The display toggles between showing MID (9)
