An improved cylinder head is available for 3618 Engines. The radius of the counterbore on the 262-8506 Cylinder Head Gp has been increased on the inlet side of the cylinder head. In addition to the larger radius, the 262-8504 Valve Seat insert incorporates a larger lead-in chamfer with a pilot on the valve seat in order to allow clearance for the radius of the counterbore. This will aid in the installation of the valve seats. Note: A new oversized 272-5886 Valve Seat is also available. This valve seat is used when the older cylinder heads are reworked in order to meet the specifications for the new cylinder head. Caterpillar remanufactured products will be using the oversized valve seat in the 10R-3474 Cylinder Head Gp. Refer to Table 1.
