Installation Procedure
Note: Verify that all of the components of the front axle are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.Note: Check all of the components and all of the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Lower the temperature of bearing (13). Use Tooling (C) in order to install bearing (13) in the rear of the axle.
Install bearing (13) until bearing (13) is 7.2 0.4 mm (.28 .02 inch) below the face of the axle.
Use Tooling (C) in order to install lip seal (12). Install lip seal (12) with the sealing lip in the outward direction.
Seat lip seal (12) against bearing (13) .

Lower the temperature of bearing (9). Use Tooling (C) in order to install bearing (9) in the front of the axle. Install bearing (9) until bearing (9) is 7.2 0.4 mm (.28 .02 inch) below the face of the axle.
Use Tooling (C) in order to install lip seal (10). Install lip seal (10) with the sealing lip in the outward direction.
Seat lip seal (10) against bearing (9). Put a thin coat of 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on bearings (9) and lip seals (10) .
Position the axle underneath the machine. Attach a lifting device to the axle. The weight of the axle is 976 kg (2152 lb). Raise the axle slowly to the original location in the machine frame. Align the pin retention holes with each other.

Install washer (11) between the rear of the axle and the machine frame.
Install the thick washer between the front of the axle and the machine frame.

Put a thin coat of 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on pin (8). Install pin (8) .
Slide the axle backward. Check the gap between the front of the axle and the frame. Use 2G-5673 Washer as required in order to maintain a 1.5 mm (.06 inch) maximum gap between the front of the axle and the machine frame.Note: Older machines will have an axle pin with a retention plate on the end of the pin. A bolt will hold the retention plate to the frame.

Align the holes for retention bolt (7), the nuts, and the washers that hold pin (8) to the machine frame. Install retention bolt (7), the nut, and the washer in order to secure pin (8) to the machine frame.

Connect hose assemblies (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), and (6) .
Install the front tires and rims. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Tires and Rims - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to lower the wheels to the floor. Remove Tooling (A) from the machine.End By:
Fill the hydraulic oil tank to the correct level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic Oil - Fill" for the correct procedure.
Start the machine and move the implements, the steering, and the wheel lean in order to remove air from the hydraulic system.
