ADAPTER AS 3574576 - Caterpillar

Before the parking brake is removed, make sure the machine is on level ground.
start by:a) remove track motor guardsb) remove track motor 1. Disconnect hose assembly (1) from the parking brake. Put a plug in the hose assembly.2. Remove six bolts (2) that hold the parking brake to the final drive. Remove the parking brake. 3. Remove six plates and five discs (3) from brake housing (4). 4. Turn the brake housing over and put the brake assembly in a press. Install tooling (B) and put spring (8) in compression. Remove snap ring (5) with tool (A). 5. Remove plate (10), retainer (9), springs (8), retainer (7) and piston (6) from housing (4). 6. Remove ring (11) with tooling (B). Remove the teflon seal from the inside diameter of the ring. Remove the O-ring seal from the outside diameter of the ring. 7. Remove teflon seal (12) from the brake housing.Install Parking Brakes
1. Install the teflon seal in the bore of the parking brake housing. Install the seal with the lip of the seal toward the final drive. SEE ILLUSTRATION A36711X2. Put clean oil on the seal. 2. Put the O-ring seal in position between the parking brake housing and the final drive. Inspect the O-ring seal for damage and make a replacement if needed. Install the parking brake housing. Install six bolts (1) that hold the parking brake housing to the final drive.3. Install six plates and five discs (2) in the brake housing. Before assembly put the plates and discs in SAE 30W oil. 4. Install teflon seal (3) in the inside diameter of ring (5). Install the seal with the lip of the seal toward the piston. SEE ILLUSTRATION A36711X2. Install O-ring seal (4) on the outside diameter of the ring. Inspect the O-ring seal for damage and make a replacement if needed. Put clean oil on the seals.5. Install ring (5) on piston (6). 6. Install piston and ring assembly (7) into the brake housing. 7. Install retainer (8), springs (9) and retainer (10) into the brake housing. 8. Install the plate with tooling (A). This will make a seat for the piston and ring assembly (7) into the brake housing. 9. Install tooling (B) as shown. Put springs (9) in compression until snap ring (11) can be installed with tool (C). 10. Connect hose assembly (12) to the parking brake.11. Remove the breather and add 1.9 pt.
