Remove the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
Remove the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove bolts (2) that fasten engine oil pan (1) to the flywheel housing.

Disconnect hose (3) .
Position mounting bracket (6) out of the way.
Disconnect exhaust elbow (4) .
Attach Tooling (A) to flywheel housing (5). The weight of flywheel housing (5) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).
Remove bolts (7) .
Remove flywheel housing (5) .Note: If necessary, hit the flywheel housing with a soft faced hammer in order to separate the flywheel housing from the cylinder block.Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Thoroughly clean the mating surface of the flywheel housing and the cylinder block.

Install Tooling (B) in the cylinder block.
Apply a continuous film of Tooling (C) to the entire joint face of the cylinder block.Note: The flywheel housing must be installed within ten minutes of applying Tooling (C) to the cylinder block.
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable hoist to flywheel housing (5). The weight of flywheel housing (5) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).
Apply Tooling (D) to the sealing surface of the engine oil pan and the cylinder block.Note: The flywheel housing must be installed within five minutes of applying Tooling (D) to the engine oil pan.
Position flywheel housing (5) onto the cylinder block.
Install bolts (7) finger tight.
Remove Tooling (B) and install the remaining bolts (7). Tighten bolts (7) .
Connect exhaust elbow (4) .
Install mounting bracket (6) onto flywheel housing (5) .
Connect hose (3) .

Install bolts (2) in engine oil pan (1). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 31 1 N m (23 1 lb ft).End By:
Install the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Install".
Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
