Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the air inlet manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Manifold - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (1) and cover (2).

Disconnect fuel injection lines (3) from fuel injection nozzles (4).

Disconnect fuel injection lines (3) from fuel injection pump (5).

Disconnect tube assembly (7) and bracket (6).
Remove fuel injection lines (3). Installation Procedure

Position fuel injection lines (3) on the engine. Connect bracket (6) and tube assembly (7).

Connect fuel injection lines (3) to fuel injection nozzles (4). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 30 N m (22 lb ft).

Connect fuel injection lines (3) to fuel injection pump (5). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 30 N m (22 lb ft).
Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".

Position cover (2) on the cylinder head. Install bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 9 N m (80 lb in). End By:
Install the air inlet manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Manifold - Remove and Install".
