When reporting the repair, use "PS40719"as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered beforefailure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" asthe SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as theWarranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. The information supplied in this serviceletter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Donot perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the terminationdate without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.TERMINATION DATE

Turn off the power supply. Prevent the enginefrom starting and lock out the equipment before working on or inside theequipment. Only qualified electrical service personnelshould service this equipment.
Always use a properly rated voltage-sensingdevice to confirm power is off.Replace all devices, doors, and covers beforeturning power on to this equipment.Observe all safety procedures as indicatedin Caterpillar manuals.
Inspect the coolant in the radiator by removingthe expansion tank cap, and taking a coolant sample from the drain lines.Send in the sample for Level II coolant analysis.
IFTHE COOLANT IS CLEAR, AND THE ANALYSIS REPORT RECOMMENDS COOLANT REPLACEMENT,CONTINUE AS FOLLOWS BELOW. IFTHE COOLANT IS RED IN COLOR, OR THE ANALYSIS OF THE COOLANT IS ACCEPTABLE,THE CORRECT COOLANT HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND NO FURTHER ACTION IS NECESSARY.
Drain or pump all coolant completely from boththe jacket water circuit and the after-cooler circuit if applicable. Ensurethat fluids are contained during performance of inspection and the repair.Collect the fluid in suitable containers. Refer to Caterpillar NENG2500for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids. Dispose of this coolantin accordance with the environmental regulations and your specific dealerprocedures.
Flush both circuits with clean water. Continueto flush the system until all signs of the original coolant are gone.
Install Caterpillar ELC 50/50% mix. Check theOperation and Maintenance manuals for the coolant capacity.
Run the engine while the cooling system fillercap is removed to ensure complete aeration. Operate the engine to reachnormal operating temperature and the coolant level stabilizes. Top offboth circuits as needed to obtain correct coolant level.
