The engine set point verification procedure verifies that the EMCP 3 operates correctly when one of the following faults occurs: Engine overspeed - Causes the EMCP 3 to shut down the engineHigh coolant temperature - Causes the EMCP 3 to either shut down the engine or to issue a warning based on the event response configuration set pointsLow oil pressure - Causes the EMCP 3 to either shut down the engine or to issue a warning based on the event response configuration set pointsRelevant Engine Parameter Group Set Points
Engine set point verification procedure is used to adjust the configuration set points in the configuration parameter groups that are used during normal operation.The following conditions are required before the engine set points are verified:
The relevant set points listed in each configuration parameter group must be correct for the engine application.
No shutdown events should be present at the initial start-up. If necessary, troubleshoot, correct, and reset any shutdown events.During the procedure, each configuration set point that is to be adjusted must be recorded. Any set point that was adjusted must be returned to the original setting after the set point has been verified.Note: Prior to performing this procedure, a service replacement file can be saved using the Caterpillar service tool. The replacement file is used in order to record the configuration. The record of the configuration allows the control to be returned to the original set points after the procedure has been completed.Engine Protection Events Configuration

Engine Over Speed Shutdown Threshold Set Point
Note: The engine over speed shutdown threshold is a password protected Level 3 set point. The passwords only affect changing parameters from the EMCP 3 control panel display.
