Location of new, one-piece flow control valve in an individual control valve group.Adaptable To: The new, one-piece flow control valve (6E0484 Valve) is available for parts service only on the above tractors with differential steering. See chart. This is because a failure of one of the flow control valves can cause the flow control valve to fail in the other control valve groups on these tractors. The former flow control valve was not available for any tractors. The new, one-piece flow control valve on tractors with the steering clutch and brake method of steering is not serviced by itself. Reuse the 4T1701 Spring and the same quantity of existing shims as shown in Illustration 1 for all applications, except for the two applications identified by the two footnotes.
Description of Change: A stronger flow control valve group is also used in the differential steering valve group on D6H, D7H, and D8N Tractors. This new flow control valve group still consists of a plug, seal, and ring bolted inside a valve spool, but a stronger plug is used. This reduces the possibility of the plug shoulder shearing off. See Illustration 2.

Adaptable To: For D6H Tractors, a 6E0486 Flow Control Valve Group is available to directly replace the former flow control valve group in the 4T5134 Basic Steering Valve Group. For D7H and D8N Tractors, a 6E0485 Flow Control Valve Group is available to directly replace the former flow control valve group in the 9T7943 or 9T1780 Basic Steering Valve Group, respectively.
