Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine oil coolers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Coolers - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Illustration 1 g01292777Note: The newer oil temperature regulator housing has a longer outlet.
Remove the following components from each end of the engine oil cooler: elbows (1), tubes (8) and bonnets (2).
Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil cooler core (4). The weight of engine oil cooler core (4) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb). Remove the bolts that hold the engine oil cooler core to manifold (6) and other manifold (10). Remove engine oil cooler core (4).
Remove elbow (7) from manifold (6). Remove manifold (6) and other manifold (10) from the engine oil cooler cores.
Remove tubes (5) and flanges (3) from each side of the oil temperature regulator housing.
Remove oil temperature regulator housing (13) from supports (11).
Remove supports (11).
Remove bonnets (9) and the gaskets from engine oil cooler cores (14).
Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil cooler cores (14). The weight of engine oil cooler cores (14) is approximately 90 kg (200 lb). Remove the engine oil cooler cores from support assembly (12).
