ADAPTER G 5M2890 - Caterpillar

3400 Series EnginesThe 6V4869 Adapter and 6V6174 Plug are now available for use in the installation and removal of camshaft bearings in the above engines. These two new tools are designed specifically for use on 3400 Series Engines. The new adapter and plug are used instead of the 8S8285 Collet Assembly and 8S8288 Cone, respectively. The collet assembly and cone are components of the 8S2241 Camshaft Bearing Installation And Removal Tool Group and are made to be used on bearings with smaller outside diameters. The new adapter and plug are used with the rest of the tools in the 8S2241 Group. The existing installation and removal procedures in the Service Manuals can still be used.
