A new process is now used in the manufacturer of the listed off-highway trucks. The former process painted hoses (1) and painted hardware (2). The new process is called the finish painted component process. As a result of the new process, new machines will now contain unpainted hoses (3) and unpainted hardware (4). The components that are affected will include hoses, nuts, bolts, fittings, clamps, brackets and tubing. The old components and the new components will be interchangeable. The major difference between the old process that was used in the manufacture of the machines and the new finish painted component process will be the visual difference from the components that are not painted. The new finish painted component process will have several benefits.
When you disassemble a painted joint, contamination in the systems will decrease.
Tools will better fit the fasteners because the fasteners are not painted.
You can identify hoses and parts more easily because the hoses and parts will not be painted.
Delivery of the machines to the customer will be faster. Time that is needed to manufacture the machines will be reduced. The existing units that are painted will be used on the machines. The change to the new process will take one year. A dealer may receive a mixture of units that are painted and units that are assembled to the new finish painted component process.A new plating process will be used on plated hardware. The hexavalent chromium plating process that was used on a wide variety of hardware will no longer be used. The hexavalent chromium plating processmade the hardware gold or yellow. The new plating process will make the hardware silver. The former parts and the new parts will be interchangeable. The new plating process offers an increase in corrosion resistance of 33 percent over the former hexavalent chromium plating process. The new plating process will be used on nuts, bolts, fittings, clamps, brackets and tubing.A mixture of the plated hardware may exist for a few years. A dealer may receive a mixture of plated hardware until all of the parts that were made with hexavalent chromium plating process are used.Adaptable To: The new finish painted component process is now used in the manufacture of the above listed off-highway trucks. The new finish painted component process is adaptable back to the beginning of production of the machines. The new process became effective in production with the machines EED533-UP and DLS518-UP.
