Remove grease hose assembly (3) and fitting (4). Remove bolts (5) from center steering arm (1).

Support center steering arm (1) with Tooling (B). Use Tooling (A) to remove pin (7) from center steering arm (1). Remove center steering arm (1) and the shims. The weight of center steering arm (1) is approximately 31 kg (68 lb).

When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

Lower the temperature of sleeve bearings (8) and (9). Use Tooling (C) to install sleeve bearings (8) and (9). Install sleeve bearings (8) and (9) even with Surfaces (X) and (Y).

Use Tooling (B) to position center steering arm (1). The weight of center arm (1) is approximately 31 kg (68 lb). Note: If necessary, use the shims in order to achieve a gap of 0.70 0.60 mm (0.028 0.024 inch).
Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install pin (7). Orient the slot toward the slot in center steering arm (1).

Install lock (6) to center steering arm (1).

Install bolts (5) to center steering arm (1). Install fitting (4) and grease hose assembly (3).

Apply Tooling (E) to the taper of the ball studs. Install the ball studs to center steering arm (1).
Install nuts (2). Tighten nuts (2) to a torque of 1360 N m (1000 lb ft). If the holes do not line up, advance nuts (2) to the next hole. Install the cotter pins.
Align the front wheels. Refer to Steering System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel - Align". End By:
Remove the wheel chocks.
