Sirs Publication List InsertAn improvement has been made to the paper Insert for Caterpillar Publications List. A new column, called "Starting Grid" has been added to the right side of this index. See Illustration 1. The references in this column give you the grid locations on the fiche in the library where families (groups) of models on that fiche change.
Illustration 1. Use the Insert to make correct selection of fiche.It is easy to find tractors, loaders and pipelayers on the fiche index. These products have names you know, such as D6, 931 and 594. However, servicemen tell us it is difficult to find some products on the fiche index because the names, such as 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 do not tell what the products are.
You see in Illustration 2 that each family of products on the Insert has a "Starting Grid" number. The arrows on the illustration point to Rippers, Scarifiers and Tool Bars. Illustration 3 shows the fiche index. The arrows point to the model names and grid locations for Scarifier N3 and Tool Bar N6. In the illustrations the names for the products look the same, but the "Starting Grid" locations are different; they show the correct location of the product families on the fiche.
