Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Disconnect the batteries.
Put an identification mark on the harness assemblies that are connected to the electric starting motor and the solenoid.

Disconnect the harness assemblies from solenoid (1).
Disconnect the harness assembly from electric starting motor (3).
Attach a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).
Remove bolts (4). Remove electric starting motor (3) and gasket (5) from the flywheel housing.
If necessary, remove connector (2) and solenoid (1) from the electric starting motor. Installation Procedure

Attach a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).
Position electric starting motor (3) and gasket (5) on the flywheel housing. Install bolts (4). Remove the lifting device from the electric starting motor.
If necessary, install connector (2). Tighten the nut and the bolt. Refer to Specifications, "Electric Starting Motor" for the torque values.
Connect the harness assemblies on solenoid (1). Tighten the nuts. Refer to Specifications, "Electric Starting Motor" for the torque values.
Connect the harness assemblies on the electric starting motor (3). Tighten the nut. Refer to Specifications, "Electric Starting Motor" for the torque value.
Connect the batteries.
