( 1 ) These machines can be reworked to be an Advanced Productivity Electronics Control Strategy (APECS) transmission machine. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5818, "Installation Procedure for Advanced Productivity Electronics Control Strategy (APECS)". If the transmission has been reworked, use the 443-1562 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp. Otherwise, the engine will request Reason Code 5 passwords as a protective measure when there is any attempt to flash 453-3111 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp. Running the machine with the wrong engine software will result in shorter service life of the power train components.
