This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3044" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3044" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

An additional fuel filter assembly has been added to the 3516 Engines used in 5230 Excavators and 3516 Remanufactured Engines. The 5230 Excavator had inadequate fuel filter capacity compared to other 3500 Series Engines powering machine applications due to its high load factor.

Rework Procedure
Install the new additional fuel filter assembly.
Use the procedure for purging air from the fuel system, reference the Operation and Maintenance Manual for 5230 Excavators for the correct procedure.
