ADAPTER-PUMP 8P8571 - Caterpillar

1. Remove bolts (1) and the washers holding fan guards (2) in place. Remove fan guards (2). 2. Remove six nuts (5), the bolts and the washers.3. Remove fan assembly (3) and adapter (4) from fan drive (6) as a unit. If the radiator is in place move the fan assembly forward being careful not to damage the radiator. 4. Loosen the alternator, and remove fan V-belts (11).5. Loosen bolt (7).6. Remove bolt (9) and the washer, and move brace out of the way.7. Remove three bolts (10), and remove the fan drive. The weight of fan drive (6) is 24 kg (52 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the fan drive and fan. 8. Position the fan drive, and install three bolts (10).9. Position brace (6), and install bolt (9) and the washer.10. Tighten bolt (7).11. Install fan V-belts (11), and tighten the alternator. Make adjustment to the V-belt tension with a belt tension gauge. Refer to the Specifications in the Testing & Adjusting Manual for correct tension. 12. Position fan assembly (3) and adapter (4) to fan drive (6).13. Install six nuts (5), the bolts and the washers. 14. Put fan guards (2) in place, and install bolts (1) and the washers.
