Drift of Bowl Cylinders
Note: Run the engine at low idle in order to check the drift of the bowl cylinders. With the engine at low idle, raise the cutting edge of the bowl 200 50 mm (7.9 2.0 inch) above the ground. Then move the control lever to the HOLD position and check the drift of the bowl cylinders. After three minutes, put a mark on the side of the bowl. Place the mark at the bottom of the draft arm 150 mm (5.9 inch) from the front of the bowl sides. After five minutes, put a mark on the side of the bowl. Measure the drift. See the chart below. The engine must remain at low idle during the test.
Table 1
Oil Temperatures     Drift Rate Per Five Minutes
30° C (86° F)     Less than
1.0 mm (.04 inch)
60° C (140° F)     Less than
4.5 mm (.18 inch)
90° C (194° F)     Less than
8.0 mm (.31 inch)    Note: The bowl will drift to the ground faster when the engine is shut down.

If the bowl drifts too much, check the following components:
Check the carry-check valves.
Check the piston seals in the bowl cylinders.Speed Tests
Make all tests with the oil at the normal operating temperature. Also, make the tests when the tractor engine is at high idle rpm. Use a stop watch in order to find the travel time.If the travel time is not correct, check the following list:
Check pump efficiency.
Check the setting of the relief valve in the
