Procedure to Waterproof Temperature Sensors
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a jack is used to lift the machine, stand clear of the area. Use a jack that is rated for the correct capacity to lift the machine. Install blocks or stands before performing any work on the machine.
Lift the screed and extend the extenders to full length in order to gain access to the location of all four temperature sensors. Place wood blocks under the screed plates in order to support the screed completely. Once the wood blocks are in place, lower the screed onto the wood blocks.
Power down the machine and turn the main power switch to the OFF position.

Locate one of four temperature sensor assemblies (7) and connectors.
Carefully cut the cable strap around the connector for the temperature sensor. Disconnect the connector for the temperature sensor from the harness.Note: Make a note of the bundle of the excess wire and the cable strap around the connector.
Remove the cover for the elbow and the clamp for the wire harness at the top of the sensor assembly. Set the cover aside for reassembly. Pull the connector through the top end of the elbow.

Loosen star nut (9) at the base of the temp sensor assembly.
Unscrew temperature sensor assembly (7) from the mounting plate (8). Pull the temperature sensor assembly through the frame hole and the connector through the temperature sensor making sure to leave the temperature sensor in place. Note: Do not pull or twist the wires.

Remove two bolts (10) that hold plate (8) to bar (11). Pull the plate and the sensor outward between the bar and the frame and pull the connector end through the frame. Pull the connector end of the temperature sensor through the plate in order to separate. Set the plate and bolts aside for reassembly.
Thoroughly clean the sensor and wires.
Remove the connector from the temperature sensor by first removing the receptacle lock wedge and then remove the pins from the connector. Set the wedge and the connector aside for reassembly.
Pull the protective sleeving off the wiring for the temperature sensor and cut off the first 50 mm (1.97 inch).

Apply silicone sealant (3) on top of temperature sensor (6) first into the protective sleeving and then apply around the wires on the top of the sensor for a depth of 10 mm (0.39 inch). Push the sleeving in and out of the sealant in order to ensure that the sealant is up into the sleeving. This will need to be done several times. Note: Do not apply the silicone sealant around the outer diameter of the sensor.

Cut a 50 mm (1.97 inch) of heat shrink tube (5). Pull the heat shrink tube over the connector end of the temperature sensor wire and over the top of the sensor until the heat shrink tube is completely covering the outer diameter of the sensor.
