Remove the side panel prior to removal of the alternator. See the topic, "Remove & Install Hood" in this module.1. Mark for identification and location purposes, and disconnect all wires connected to alternator (6).2. Remove the washers and nuts from bolts (2) and (4), and remove cover (3). Do not remove bolts (2) and (4) at this time.3. Loosen the inside nut on rod (1) to relieve the tension on V-belts (5).4. Remove V-belts (5) from the pulley of alternator (6).5. Support alternator (6) while removing bolts (2) and (4).6. Remove alternator (6). The following steps are for the installation of the alternator.7. Put alternator (6) in position, and install bolts (2) and (4) with the head opposite the pulley end of the alternator.8. Install V-belts (5) in the pulley on alternator (6).9. Install cover (3).10. Install the washers and nuts on bolts (2) and (4), but do not tighten them.11. Use inside nut on rod (1) to correctly adjust the tension on the V-belts. See the topic "Alternator, Fan and Air Conditioner Belts" in the Operation & Maintenance Manual.12. Tighten the outside nut on rod (1) to secure the V-belt adjustment.13. Tighten the nuts on bolts (2) and (4).14. Connect all wires to alternator (6) in their original locations.
