1. Connect a hoist to the bottom roller. Remove bolts (3).2. Remove bolts (2) from each retainer (1) and install them in the threads of the holes in retainer (1). 3. Remove retainers (1) as bolts (2) are tightened. Remove bottom roller (4). Weight of the bottom roller is 53 kg (115 lb).4. Remove bolts (5) from shaft retainer (6) from the top roller. 5. Connect a hoist to the top roller (7). Remove shaft (8) as shown. 6. Remove top roller along with wear plates (9). Weight of top roller is 24 kg (52 lb).
Be careful that wear plates (9) do not drop when roller is removed.
7. Connect a hoist to side roller. Remove bolt from shaft retainer for side roller. Remove shaft (10). 8. Slide side roller (11) out enough to remove wear plates (12). Remove side roller. Weight of the side roller is 25 kg (54 lb).9. Install all rollers in their respective positions. Install wear plates on the top and side rollers. Install shafts, retainer and bolts that hold rollers in position.Disassemble Fairlead Rollers
Start By:a. remove fairlead rollers1. Remove oil from the bottom rollers. 2. Remove nut and lock from shaft with tool (A). 3. Remove retainer (1) and seal (2) as a unit. Remove seal from the retainer. 4. Remove shaft (3) and bearing cone (4) from roller. 5. Remove bearing cone (8). Duo-Cone seal (6), O-ring seal (7) and retainer (5) from shaft (3). 6. Remove seals and bearing cups (9) from the bottom roller. 7. Remove bearing (10) from each end of the side rollers. 8. Remove bearing (11) from each end of the top roller.Assemble Fairlead Rollers
1. Install bearings in top roller with tooling (A) 1.52 mm (.06 in) below end surfaces of the roller. Install bearings in each end of the side rollers with tooling (A). 2. Install bearing cups in bottom roller with tooling (B). 3. Install seals in retainers and bottom roller with tool (C). Put a small amount of oil on the sealing edges of the metal surfaces of the seals. The metal surfaces of the seal that make contact with the rubber surfaces of the seals must be clean and dry at time of assembly. 4. Install retainer (4) O-ring seal (2), Duo-Cone seal (5) and bearing cone (3) on shaft (1). Before installation, put oil on O-ring seal (2) and all metal surfaces that make contact with O-ring seal (2). 5. Install shaft (1) in roller (6). Install bearing cone (7) on shaft (1). 6. Install retainer (10) on shaft (1).7. Install lock (9) and nut (8) on shaft (1). 8. Tighten nut (8) with tool (E) until end clearance of shaft (1) is between 0.05 to 0.20 mm (.002 to .008 in).9.
