ADJUSTMENT GP-HYDRAULIC TRACK 3926733 - Caterpillar

Step 1. CHECK THE WIRING
Turn off the genset.
Turn the remote voltage adjust rheostat in a fully counterclockwise direction.
Disconnect the wires from terminals 6a and 7.
Measure the resistance of the remote voltage adjust rheostat between wires 6a and 7.
Turn the remote voltage adjust rheostat in a fully clockwise direction.
Measure the resistance between wires 6a and 7.Expected Result:Resistance between wires 6a and 7 should be less than 5 Ohm when the remote voltage adjust rheostat is turned in a fully counterclockwise direction. Resistance should be between 9.5 kOhm and 10.5 kOhm when the remote voltage adjust rheostat is turned in a fully clockwise direction.Results:
OK - Resistance lies within specified range. Proceed to test step 2.
Not OK - Resistance is outside specified range.Repair: Check if the wires are broken. Check for the wires that are shorted to ground. Check for bad solder joints. Check for adequate wire size to the remote voltage adjust rheostat. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK THE REMOTE VOLTAGE ADJUST RHEOSTAT
Reconnect the remote voltage adjust rheostat to the voltage regulator.
Start the genset.
Run the genset at no load.Expected Result:The generator voltage lies within specified range.Results:
OK - The problem has been eliminated. Stop.
Not OK - The problem still exists.Repair: Replace the remote voltage adjust rheostat. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Wiring Diagrams". Stop.
