Information:
The 3512 Engine uses three oil filters, and the 3516 Engine uses four oil filters. The removal procedures are the same for both engines.1. Drain the oil from the oil cooler. 2. Disconnect tube (1) from oil cooler elbow (2). 3. Use tool (A), and remove oil filters (3) from the filter base. 4. Remove the bolts, retainers and ring to disconnect tube (1) from the oil filter base.5. Remove six bolts (4) that hold the elbow to the filter base. 6. Fasten tooling (B) and a hoist to the filter base as shown.7. Remove four bolts (5) that hold the filter base to the engine, and remove the filter base. The weight of the filter base for 3512 Engines is approximately 32 kg (70 lb.). The weight of the filter base for 3516 Engines is approximately 43 kg (95 lb.).Install Oil Filter Base
The oil filter base and filter installation procedures are the same for the 3512 and 3516 Engines. 1. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to the oil filter base, and put in position. Make sure the gasket is in position between elbow (1) and the filter base. Install the four bolts to hold the filter base to the engine.2. Install the bolts to hold elbow (1) to the filter base. 3. Install the O-ring seal on tube (2), and put clean engine oil on it. Put tube (2) in position in the filter base, and install the ring, retainers and bolts to hold the tube in the filter base. 4. Install the O-ring seal on the other end of tube (2), and put clean engine oil on it. Connect the adapter on tube (2) to oil cooler elbow (3). 5. Put clean engine oil on the seal of oil filters (4), and install the oil filters. Follow the installation instructions on the filter.6. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.Disassemble Oil Filter Base
START BY:a. remove oil filter base The 3512 Engine has three base assemblies, and the 3516 Engine has four base assemblies. The disassembly procedure procedure is the same for both. 1. Remove support (1) from the base assemblies. 2. Loosen the bolts for covers (4) slowly. Remove covers (4), the springs and plungers from base assemblies (2).3. Remove adapter (3) from the base assemblies.4. Remove the bolts and nuts to make a separation of the base assemblies.5. If necessary, remove the studs for the filters from base assemblies (2).Assemble Oil Filter Base
The assembly procedures are the same for the 3512 and 3516 Engines.1. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads for the filter studs to a depth of 10.2 mm (.40 in.) in base assemblies (1). Install the studs in base assemblies (1), and tighten them to a torque of 80 14 N m (60 10 lb.ft.).2. Make sure the gaskets are in position between the body assemblies, and install the bolts and nuts to hold the unit together.3. Install the gasket and adapter
