Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Park the machine in a flat, level spot.
Place the propel control lever in NEUTRAL.
Engage the parking brake.
Stop the engine.Note: Perform this procedure if the propel lever is in NEUTRAL position and the machine will not start. Perform this procedure if the propel lever is out of NEUTRAL and the machine will start.

Disconnect cable (2) for the propel control.
Place direction control valve (1) in NEUTRAL. This valve is located on the pump.

Disconnect electrical connector (3) from neutral start switch (4) .
Insert the spoons of Tool B into the end of connector (3) which is attached to neutral start switch (4). Connect Tool B to the COM port and V-Ohms port on Tool A. Place the dial on Tool A into the ALARM position.
Loosen the locknut while you hold neutral start switch (4) .
If the alarm that is generated by Tool A is sounding, rotate neutral start switch (4) clockwise until the audible alarm that is generated by Tool A stops.
Rotate neutral start switch (4) counterclockwise until the alarm begins to sound.
Hold neutral start switch (4), and tighten the locknut.
Remove the tooling, and reconnect connector (3) for the neutral start switch. Reconnect cable (2) for the propel control.
