Note: Remove air pressure from the air system for the service brake and for the retarder brake system before you remove the plugs from the brake master cylinders.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine or release of air pressure or oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To help prevent possible injury before testing and adjusting any air system or hydraulic system, perform the procedure in the Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" section.
Move the parking brake control to the ON position.
Remove all of the air pressure from the air circuit for the service brakes and the retarder brakes.

Location of plugs
(1) Plug on the front brake master cylinder
(2) Plug on the rear brake master cylinder
Remove plug (1) from the elbow on the top of the front brake master cylinder. Remove plug (2) from the elbow on the top of the rear brake master cylinder.
Use a coupler and a hose to connect a 8T-0854 Pressure Gauge ( 0 to 1000 kPa (0 to 145 psi)) in the location of the plugs (1) and (2).

Install a 8T-0857 Pressure Gauge ( 0 to 10000 kPa (0 to 1450 psi)) to pressure tap (3) on the rear slack adjuster.

Install a 8T-0857 Pressure Gauge ( 0 to 10000 kPa (0 to 1450 psi)) to pressure tap (4) on the front brake slack adjuster.
Do not exceed the air pressure of 830 35 kPa (120 5 psi) or damage can occur to the air system components.
Use an external air supply to charge the air system.
Start the engine. Operate the engine at high idle.
Move the retarder control lever to the full ON position. The following pressures should be indicated:
Oil pressure at the rear brake slack adjuster should be 3461 to 4371 kPa (502 to 634 psi) for both the Extended Life Wheel and Brake Group configuration and the Standard Wheel and Brake Group configuration.
Oil pressure at the front brake slack adjuster should be 3461 to 4371 kPa (502 to 634 psi) for the Standard Wheel and Brake Group configuration.
Oil pressure at the front brake slack adjuster should be 2724 to 3440 kPa (395 to 499 psi) for the Extended Life Wheel and Brake Group configuration.
Air pressure at the rear brake master cylinder should be 524 to 662 kPa (76 to 96 psi) for both the Extended Life Wheel and Brake Group configuration and the Standard Wheel and Brake Group configuration.Note: The retarder control lever is not an on/off lever. The retarder control lever
