(1) Power indicator (2) Control indicator (3) Auto retarder indicator (4) Retarder indicator (5) Parking brake indicator (6) Accelerator pedal indicator (7) Engine speed indicator (8) Fault present indicator (9) Readout (10) Service mode indicator (11) Three unused indicatorsUse the following procedure when you troubleshoot a detected fault.
Ensure that the ARC has detected a fault. Ensure that the ARC is in the normal mode (mode 0). If a fault is detected, the CID codes and the FMI codes will scroll on the readout (9). When there are no faults detected readout (9) displays "---".
Enter the detected fault mode (mode 1). Simultaneously press and hold both service switches. Hold both the set and clear switches until readout (9) displays "-1-".
The CID, FMI, and OID of the first fault are displayed on the readout (9). The fault shown is on-hold at this time. In order to view all the detected faults, press the set switch. This will advance the display on readout (9) onto the next fault. After the last fault is displayed the readout (9) will display "End". Press the set switch one time. This will cause the detected fault list to be repeated.Note: When there are no faults, readout (9) will show "---".
Release the service switches while the desired fault is showing. This will position the desired fault on-hold.
Observe the fault present indicator (8) .
If fault present indicator (8) is on, then the fault is present now.
If the fault present indicator (8) is off, then the fault is not present at this time. A fault had occurred. This is called an intermittent fault.
In order to troubleshoot this fault, go to the procedure with the corresponding CID and FMI.Note: A general method of troubleshooting intermittent faults is wiggling the related wires while a helper watches the status of the fault present indicator (8) .
After a fault is corrected or no longer needed clear the fault. This is done by briefly pressing the clear switch while the fault is on-hold. After the fault is cleared the readout (9) advances to the next available fault.Note: A fault cannot be cleared while the fault is present.
Repeat Steps 4 through 7 for the remaining faults. Return to the normal mode when the faults are cleared. Simultaneously press and hold both service switches until readout (9) displays "-0-".
