Method To Check Stroking Pressure For Piston-Type Hydraulic Pump
1. Disconnect and close off the signal line from the pump to be tested.2. Connect a hose, 0-3450 kPa (0-500 psi) pressure gauge and gate valve to the signal port on the pump to be tested. See the illustration.3. Install a 0-41500 kPa (0-6000 psi) gauge at the outlet of the pump to be tested.
Schematic diagram for check of stroking pressure.4. Fully extend the cylinder(s) for an implement which is (are) charged by the pump to be tested. (The bucket for one pump, and the stick for the other pump.)5. Install a 6S0753 Bolt (9/16-18-3) in the end cap on the main control valve for the implement used in Step 4.6. Turn the bolt clockwise until the pump outlet pressure is 17000 kPa (2500 psi).7. Slowly open the gate valve which was installed in Step 2.8. When the piston makes a stroke, the pump outlet pressure will decrease. When the pump outlet pressure decreases, read the pressure on the gauge installed at the signal port. This is the stroking pressure. The stroking pressure for 215 and 225 (51U2833-Up, 76U1317-Up) Excavators is approximately 690 kPa (100 psi). For 225 (51U1-2832, 76U1-1316), 235 and 245 Excavators, the stroking pressure is approximately 1030 kPa (150 psi).
