Note: An engine can be programmed to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repair is performed.
Remove the speed sensor (3) from the flywheel housing. Check the condition of the end of the speed sensor. Check for signs of wear and contaminants.
Clean the metal shavings and other debris from the face of the sensor.
Install the speed sensor until the end of the sensor comes in contact with a tooth on the flywheel ring gear (1).
Back out 180 degrees and tighten the locknut (2) to 45 7 N m (33 5 lb ft). Note: Ensure that the speed sensor cannot rotate when the locknut is tightened.Refer to the Service Manual for more information on the speed sensor in the flywheel housing.
