1 - - Use the following sequence for installing and adjusting the CAT brake:
1. Loosen the jam nut (1) until the lash adjustment screw can be rotated easily.
2. Insert the feeler gauge between the exhaust rocker arm and the CAT brake pin.
3. Turn the lash adjustment screw clockwise until there is a slight drag on the feeler gauge when pulled.
4. Set the lash to 0.7112 0.0500 mm (0.02800 0.00197 inch).
5. Hold the lash adjustment screw in place and tighten the jam nut to 15 3 N m (133 27 lb in).
6. Recheck the CAT brake lash settings.
