TRACK-TYPE TRACTOR,
Information:
Which Generate This Code:This fault is recorded when there is a short to the positive battery terminal in the circuit for the forward pump displacement solenoid valve. This fault is caused by the following conditions.
The signal wire to the solenoid valve is shorted to the positive battery in the machine harness.
The return circuit (wire 912-GY) has a short.System OperationReference: Refer toTroubleshooting, "Forward Pump Displacement Solenoid, Reverse Pump Displacement Solenoid".System Response:This fault can be active when the key start switch is turned ON. When this fault is active and the all wheel drive system is ON (AUTOMATIC or MANUAL), the all wheel drive ECM will enter the diagnostic operating mode. The all wheel drive system will shut off and a category three warning will be activated. Test Step 1. Perform the following test: Machine Preparation for TroubleshootingResults:
OK - Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Put the all wheel drive ECM in the service mode. Put the 390-03 fault on hold.
Observe the status of the fault present indicator. When the fault present indicator is ON, the fault is ACTIVE. When the fault present indicator is OFF, the fault is INACTIVE.How...Reference: Refer toTroubleshooting, "Using The ECM Display For Troubleshooting".Expected Result:The fault is ON (ACTIVE).Results:
Yes - Proceed to test step 3.
No - The fault is probably intermittent. Clear the service code from the all wheel drive ECM. Resume normal machine operation and watch for any additional faults. Stop.Test Step 3.
Make sure that the fault present indicator is ON and that the fault is present.
Disconnect the harness connector from the forward pump displacement solenoid valve. The fault present indicator should have changed from the ON (ACTIVE) position to the OFF (INACTIVE) position.Expected Result:The fault present indicator has changed from ON (ACTIVE) to OFF (INACTIVE).Results:
No - Proceed to test step 4.
Yes - Proceed to test step 5.Test Step 4.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the harness from the all wheel drive ECM.
Use a 6V-7070 Digital Multimeter in order to measure the resistance at the harness for the all wheel drive ECM. Measure the resistance between contact 1 (+Battery) and contact 11 (wire 796-BR). The resistance should be at least 5000 ohms.Expected Result:The resistance is at least 5000 ohms. Results:
Yes - Proceed to test step 6.
No - Proceed to test step 5.Test Step 5.
Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Use a new Caterpillar part for replacement.Expected Result:The machine harness has been repaired or the machine harness has been replaced. Results:
Repair Complete - Stop.Test Step 6.
Clean the contacts on the harness for the all wheel drive ECM and clean the contacts on the harness connector. Connect the harness to the all wheel drive ECM. Connect the harness connector to the forward pump displacement solenoid valve.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Put the all wheel drive ECM in the service mode. Clear all the inactive faults from the all wheel drive ECM.
Start the engine and run the engine at high
