Changing Track Gauge (Long Undercarriage Only)
If machine is equipped with track motor guards, remove the 2 bolts attaching each guard to the track roller frame bracket, prior to changing the gauge.
When in the wide gauge position, protect the 8 unused tapped holes in the roller frames with Caterpillar Part No. T-690 Bolts. 1. Position the machine on level. Remove bolts (4 if extending gauge, 6 if retracting gauge) from each carbody leg of one roller frame. The 4 extra bolts on each roller frame are stored on the idler recoil guard when not in use.
The 4 bolts must be installed in their new location after gauge change.
2. Position boom over opposite roller frame and apply boom down pressure to raise the opposite track 4 to 5 inches (10 to 12 cm). 3. Use stick IN or OUT force to extend or retract the roller frame. 4. Install the 4 or 6 bolts and torque to 420 60 lb ft (565 80 N m). Turning machine slightly in right or left turns may be required to facilitate bolt installation.5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the opposite roller frame.Two Piece Boom
The two piece boom permits boom reach to be extended or retracted to one of 3 positions.For clamshell operation only, upper hole in the stub boom can be used to increase boom raised height.
Do not use upper hole for backhoe operation.
Correct hole for backhoe operation. Optional upper hole for clamshell operation.Bucket Pin Guides
Use bucket pin guides, located in the machine tool box, when installing bucket pins.Bolt the guides to the end of the pins. They will help prevent seal damage, and align parts for easier pin insertion.
