Disassemble Input Clutch
start by: a) remove input clutch
There is spring pressure behind ring (1).
1. Use a press and steel blocks to remove the spring pressure from behind ring (1). Use tool (A) to remove the ring. 2. Remove bolts (2). Remove gear (3) from the hub. 3. Remove bearing (4) from the gear. 4. Use 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to remove hub (5). 5. Remove springs (6).6. Remove ring (8). Remove plate (7). 7. Remove disc assemblies (9) and the plates. 8. Remove disc (10).9. Remove piston (11). Remove the ring seals (not shown) from the piston. 10. Remove ring (12). Remove housing (13) from the gear. 11. Remove ring (15) from gear (14).Assemble Input Clutch
1. Clean and inspect all parts. Make a replacement of all parts that are worn or damaged. 2. Install ring (3) on gear (2).3. Put housing (1) in position in the gear.4. Install ring (7) in gear (2).
The lips of seals (5) and (6) must be installed so they are toward the housing side (pressure side) of piston (4).
5. Install ring seals (5) and (6) on piston (4).6. Put clean SAE 10W oil on the seals. Install piston (4) in housing (1). 7. Put plate (11) in position in the gear.
Install disc assembly (9) first. Make sure the splines on the disc assemblies are in alignment. There are a total of four disc assemblies and three plates.
8. Install disc assembly (9) and plate (10).9. Install plate (8).
When springs (13) are put together, the gap must be at the outside diameter.
10. Put springs (13) in position.11. Put housing (12) in position. 12. Use 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to install hub (14). 13. Install bearing (15) on the housing. 14. Install ring (16) in gear (2). 15. Put gear (17) in position on the bearing. Make sure the holes in the gear and the hub are in alignment. 16. Install the bolts that hold the gear to the hub. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 36 2 lb. ft. (46 3 N m). 17. Use a press and steel blocks to put the springs in compression. Use tool (A) to install ring (18) in the groove in the housing.end by:a) install input clutch
