B 1P-1863 Retaining Ring Pliers 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Position sun gear (3) and install plates (4). Use Tooling (B) to install retaining ring (2).

Use two people in order to position transfer gear (1). The weight of transfer gear (1) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).
Use Tooling (A) to compress retaining ring (2). Install transfer gear (1). End By:
Connect the transmission and the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Torque Converter - Connect".
