Mark the position of input bearing cage (28) for installation purposes. Remove bolts (29), the washers, and input bearing cage (28).

Remove shim pack (30).

Use Tooling (A) (not shown) to remove bearing cup (31) from input bearing cage (28). Remove bearing cup (31).

Remove nuts (32) and the washers. Remove cover (33).

Remove O-ring seal (34).
Mark the position of idler bearing cage (35) for installation purposes. Remove bolts (36) and the washers.

Use two bolts (36) that were removed in the previous step as forcing screws to remove idler bearing cage (35).

Use Tooling (A) (not shown) to remove bearing cup (38) from idler bearing cage (35). Remove bearing cup (38).
Remove O-ring seal (39).

Remove bolts (40) and the washers from cover (41).

Install two bolts (40) that were removed in the previous step.
Use a Tooling (D) to remove dowel (42). Remove bolts (40). Repeat this procedure for the dowel that is on the other end of the transfer case.

Install Tooling (C) to cover (41), as shown. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (C).
Use a pry bar and the suitable lifting device to remove cover (41) from the transfer case. The weight of cover (41) is approximately 47 kg (104 lb).

Use two people to remove idler gear (43) from the transfer case. The weight of idler gear (43) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb). Remove idler gear (43).
Use two people to remove input gear (44). The weight of input gear (44) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Remove input gear (44).

Remove two bearing cones (45) from idler gear (43).
