Pivot shaft mount failure ?1- Preparation Before Repair -a) Remove pivot shaft.b) Measure plate thickness on a non-failedarea for machining new plate.c) Draw a line to make a separation betweenplates visible. EAMEOperations2- Plate Removal -a) Install a protective cover over the finaldrive area.b) Grind welds using arc-air processes to removethe plate. TERPILLARFrance S.A. MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY & ENVIRONNEMENT3- Area Reconditioning - a) Chamfer the plate by using metal oxygencutting or arc-air processes or grinding.b) Perform final processing by grinding toobtain a smooth and clean area.
4- New Plate Preparation -a) Machine the plate thickness to the properdimension.b) Machine chamfers at fillet weld locations.
c) Machine the ends of 2 or 3 bolts to a diameterof 21.5 mm, to use them as centering pins.
