AIR COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY 8S9915 - Caterpillar

1. Support front crankcase guard (3) with the floor jack and the wood blocks as shown. The weight of front crankcase guard (3) is 209 kg (465 lb).2. Remove bolts (2), and lower front crankcase guard (3) down on hinge bolt (1).
View from under machine Put identification marks on all electrical wires connected to electric starting motor.3. Disconnect two electrical wires (4) and three cables (6) from electric starting motor (8).4. Disconnect electrical wire (7) and three cables (5) from the electric starting motor solenoid.5. Fasten a sling and a suitable lifting device to the electric starting motor. Remove mounting bolts (9). Remove electric starting motor (8) from the flywheel housing. The weight of electric starting motor (8) is approximately 29 kg (65 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the electric starting motor.6. Check the condition of the gasket used between electric starting motor (8) and the flywheel housing. If the gasket is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
View from under machine7. Position electric starting motor (8) and install mounting bolts (9).8. Connect electrical wire (7) and three cables (5) to the electric starting motor solenoid.9. Connect two electrical wires (4) and three cables (6) to electric starting motor (8). 10. Support front crankcase guard (3) with the floor jack and the wood blocks as shown.11. Position front crankcase guard (3) on hinge bolt (1). The weight of front crankcase guard (3) is 209 kg (465 lb).12. Install bolts (2).
