Note: Effective machines will have slotted holes from the factory. For these machines, start at Step 3 to adjust the door latch.

(A) Door Frame
(B) 16 mm (0.63 inch)
Open the engine door to gain access to door frame (A) and remove all hardware attaching the striker plate.
Slot the mounting holes using the dimensions provided in Illustration 1.Note: The existing holes are 11.5 mm (0.45 inch)Note: If starting at Step3 for adjustment purposes, loosen the striker plate.

(C) Striker Plate
Loosely install striker plate (C) with shims (if present).
Push striker plate (C) as far toward the cab as possible as shown in Illustration 2.

Marked location on the latch pawl edge.
Measure 9 mm (0.35 inch) from the top of latch pawl (D) and make a mark as show in Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.

Proper striker plate and latch pawl positioning.
Close the door until the striker plate makes initial contact with the latch pawl as shown in Illustration 5.Note: Do not fully close the door.
Look through the door and door frame gap to check the striker plate and striker pawl alignment.
Adjust the striker plate position so the plate edge is vertical and touching the mark on the latch pawl as shown in Illustration 5.
Tighten the mounting hardware to 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft).
Check the operation of door and latch after adjustments are made.Note: The door should close and latch when slammed or pushed closed. Incrementally back the position of the striker plate to reduce engagement if the door does not close, or requires operation of the latch to close.
