This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31127" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31127" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 02Aug2006 Service Letter. Changes have been made to Affected Product.

New engine software need to be installed on the products listed below. The new software will provide a customer selectable parameter for the fuel pressure sensor system. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 14Aug2006 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Flash engine ECM with the correct software, once the flash is complete access customer parameters, select "Fuel Pressure Sensor" and set to the "Uninstalled" position. Upon completion of the re-flash, mark the "Clam Shell" cover of the J1/P1 connector located on the ECM with the date of the re-flash (this may be accomplished without lifting the vehicle cab), in addition a yellow cable tie must be affixed to the left side mirror bracket of the vehicle upon completion of the re-flash. Contract requirements with the US Army require that repair data must be entered into the SIMs system with in 24 hours of the repair.
