This procedure is used when the automatic ejector function does not operate, and there are no active diagnostic codes. Test Step 1. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE EJECTOR RETURN LAMP.
Check the status of the ejector return lamp. Expected Result:The ejector return lamp is blinking. Results:
YES - The ejector return lamp is blinking. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NO - The ejector return lamp never illuminates. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE DUTY CYCLE OF THE SIGNAL FOR THE EJECTOR.
Connector "A" at the joystick is the wiring harness for the ejector. Connect the negative lead from a multimeter to contact 2.
Connect the positive lead from a multimeter to contact 3.
Set the multimeter to the setting for the duty cycle.
Monitor the display of the multimeter, and move the ejector control (joystick) completely to the left. This is the position that moves the ejector forward. Note the value on the multimeter display.
Allow the ejector control (joystick) to return to the neutral position. Note the value on the multimeter display.
Move the ejector control (joystick) completely to the right. This is the position that moves the ejector rearward. Note the value on the multimeter display. Expected Result:When the joystick is completely to the left, the duty cycle is 5% to 35%. With the joystick in the neutral position, the duty cycle is 40% to 60%. When the joystick is completely to the right, the duty cycle is 65% to 95%.Results:
OK - The duty cycle is within the specification.Repair: Recalibrate the ejector control. SeeTesting and Adjusting, "Ejector Control (Joystick) - Calibrate".STOP
NO CHANGE IN DUTY CYCLE - There is no change in the duty cycle. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK OUT OF SPECIFICATION - One or more of the duty cycle measurements are out of specification. The joystick has failed.Repair: Repair the joystick or replace the joystick.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE MECHANISM OF THE EJECTOR.
Stop the machine and turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Check the area behind the ejector for obstructions of any kind. Expected Result:There are obstructions that are impeding the operation of the ejector. Results:
YES - There are obstructions that are impeding the operation of the ejector return.Repair: Remove the obstructions and resume normal machine operation.STOP
NO - There are no obstructions that are impeding the operation of the ejector return. Proceed to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. CHECK THE KICKOUT SWITCH FOR THE EJECTOR.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the kickout switch.
At the kickout switch, connect one lead from a multimeter to contact 1 (wire J766-PU(Purple)). Connect the other lead from the multimeter to contact 3 (wire R721-YL(Yellow)).
Start the machine.
Operate the joystick in order to apply low pressure and high pressure to the kickout switch for the ejector.
Measure the resistance of the switch as the pressure at the switch changes. Expected Result:The switch should be closed under low
