The functions of the machine's Electronic Control Module (ECM) are disabled during the flashing process. The engine ECM does not receive a throttle signal during the process. This causes the engine ECM to generate a false 91-8 Throttle Position Sensor abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period diagnostic code.Occasionally, the machine ECM also generates a false diagnostic code after the flashing process. For example, a false 2300-9 Switch Panel abnormal update rate might be generated.Solution
After flashing new software into a machine ECM, cycle the machine's keyswitch to the Off position for a minimum of one minute. Cycle the keyswitch before you operate the machine. The false diagnostic code will disappear after the keyswitch is cycled.Verify that the diagnostic code has been erased. If a code continues to be generated, troubleshoot the code according to the appropriate Troubleshooting manual.
