Water Separator
Drain Water and Sediment from Water Separator.
Water separator contains combustable materials or explosive atmospheres; never light matches, smoke, create sparks, or use open flame. Personal injury or death may result from explosion or fire.
The fuel system must be vented whenever: the fuel system has run dry, the low pressure fuel pipes are disconnected, either of the fuel filters have been drained or disconnected, or any part of the low pressure fuel system leaks during engine operation.
1. Open drain on water separator.2. Allow to drain until separator is clean of water and sediment.3. Close drain on water separator.Secondary Fuel Filter
Drain water and sediment
1. Open drain plug located in bottom of secondary fuel filter.2. Allow to drain until stream of fuel is clear of water and sediment.3. Install and tighten drain plug in bottom of filter.Vent the fuel system
1. Loosen the vent screw on mechanical governor. 2. Loosen the vent screw on the hydraulic head. 3. Pump the prime lever on the fuel lift pump until all vents issue a solid stream of fuel.4. While continuing to pump fuel close the vent screw on the hydraulic head then close the vent screw on the mechanical governor. 5. Loosen the union nut at the fuel injection pump inlet pipe. Pump prime lever until a solid stream of fuel issues from around the nut.6. Tighten the nut while continuing to pump the prime lever.
If the engine runs correctly for a short time and then stops or runs roughly, check for air in the fuel system. If there is air in the fuel system, there is probably a leakage in the low pressure system.
Fuel Tank
Check level
The fuel tank contains combustable materials or explosive atmospheres; never light matches, smoke, create sparks, or use open flames. Personal injury or death may result from explosion or fire.
Take extreme care to insure the cleanliness of diesel fuel. Keep fuel clean to extend component life and assure maximum performance.
Before each days operation, replenish the fuel tank. Fill tank to bottom of tank filler neck.Neutral start switch
Check operation
Machine may suddenly lurch forward if the neutral start switch is out of adjustment. Be sure area is clear of all personnel and equipment before performing this test.
1. Place propel lever in forward. 2. Hold keyswitch (1) in start position while slowly moving propel lever (2) back toward neutral.3. If machine attempts to start before the lever is in neutral, the neutral start switch requires adjustment. Contact maintenance before operating the machine.Hydraulic Hoses
Check condition.
1. Check all hoses, fittings, and components for leaks.
Whenever inspection or maintenance work is performed on the hydraulic system, all hydraulic hoses and fittings must be checked. Replace damaged hoses immediately!
Back-up Alarm and Horns
Check operation.
Start the machine and depress the horn button. If the horn does not sound contact maintenance, and repair the horn.While the machine is running move the propel lever to reverse. If the reverse alarm does not sound contact maintenance and repair the back-up alarm.If the machine is equipped with lights, turn on the light
