Front Wheel Assist SolenoidThis diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM reads the current of the front wheel assist solenoid circuit as below normal (open circuit).The possible causes of this diagnostic code are:
The signal circuit for the solenoid is open or the solenoid is disconnected.
The return circuit for the solenoid is open.
The solenoid is malfunctioning.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.System Response:The results of this diagnostic code are:
Conveyor diagnostic lamp on the machine operator's station will be ON.
Traction Assist will not turn ON.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code CID 200 FMI F05 for the front wheel assist solenoid is on hold and that the diagnostic code present indicator on the ECM display is ON.Test Step 1. Check Solenoid
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Disconnect the machine harness from the front wheel assist solenoid.
At the machine harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper from connector contact number 1 to connector contact number 2.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code present indicator.Expected Result:When the jumper is installed, the diagnostic code present indicator should turn OFF. When the jumper is removed, the diagnostic code present indicator should turn ON.Results:
OK - The diagnostic code present indicator does turn OFF when the jumper is installed and does turn ON when the jumper is removed. Repair: The circuit is correct. The solenoid is malfunctioning. Replace the solenoid. Stop.
NOT OK - The diagnostic code present indicator does not turn OFF when the jumper is installed or does not turn ON when the jumper is removed.Repair: There may be an open circuit in the machine harness. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. Check Harness For Open Circuits
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper from connector contact number 1 to connector contact number 2.
At the machine harness ECM connector, measure the resistance from the signal circuit at ECM connector contact 38 (wire P941-GN) to the return circuit at ECM connector contact 39 (wire P201-GN).Expected Result:The resistance should measure less than 5.0 ohms (continuity).Results:
OK - The resistance does measure less than 5.0 ohms (continuity). Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance measures more than 5.0 ohms.Repair: There is an open in the front wheel assist solenoid circuit. The open is either in the signal circuit (wire P941-GN) or in the return circuit (wire P201-GN) of the machine harness. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Stop.Test Step 3. Check To See If Diagnostic Code Remains
Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter service mode 1 on the ECM three digit display. Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check to see if the CID 200
